Half-smile and willing hands
Accept reality with your body. Your face and hands talk to your brain.
Half-smile
Relax your face from forehead to jaw, teeth slightly apart. Let the corners of your lips turn up just enough that you can feel it — no one else needs to see it. A serene face.
Willing hands
Unclench your hands and turn them palms up, fingers relaxed — arms at your sides if standing, on your lap if sitting, by your sides if lying down.
When to practice
- First thing in the morning, for three breaths.
- In free moments.
- While listening to music.
- The moment you notice “I’m irritated.”
- While thinking of someone you’re angry with.
