Answers to the myths that stop you from asking or saying no.
Remind yourself
- It’s okay to want or need something from someone.
- I can stand it if I don’t get what I want.
- A no doesn’t mean I shouldn’t have asked.
- I can insist on my rights and still be a good person.
- I can validate someone and still ask for what I want.
- My opinions are as valid as anyone’s.
- Saying no doesn’t make me selfish, and their anger doesn’t mean I should have said yes.
- I can feel good about myself even if someone is annoyed with me.
- Giving, giving, giving is not all there is. I matter too.
